Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. et Nakai
Heat loving vegetable, grown outdoors and in greenhouses. Medium-early variety. Fruits weight about 3.5-5.5 kg, the flesh is yellow, sweet and juicy. Field harvest can be expected only in hot summer, choose places protected from wind, sunny areas. To give time for the fruit to mature, seedlings are sown both to a greenhouse and outdoors. Seedlings may be killed if the temperature is lower than +15 °C. Harvest must be picked before the first frost.
