Matures within 55 days after seeds germination. Smooth, mild-flavoured leaves and pink stems are used for food. Young leaves are very suitable for salads, and matured leaves can be steamed, stewed, used in soups. Grows best in non-acidic, loamy soil rich in organic matter.
